Fishing poles? Check. Tackle Box? Check. Cooler with ice? Check. You’re spending the day on the water and you’ve got everything you need for a successful fishing trip. We wish you the very best of luck and when you return home with a cooler full of fish fillets, here’s how you can prepare them for the family:
1. Throw Them In The Oven: heat the oven to 450°F and spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray. Season to taste and bake for 10 minutes per inch of thickness or until the fish flakes apart with a fork.
2. Throw Them In The Frying Pan: looking for a fish that turns comes out crispy and tender? Use the frying pan. Heat ¼-inch of oil or butter in the pan over medium-high heat. Dip fish in milk or beaten egg and then cover in breadcrumbs. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side.
3. Throw Them In The Pan And Broil: for thicker cuts of fish, this is a great way to cook them. Place the pan roughly 4 inches from heat source and baste fish before and during cooking.
4. Throw Them On The Grill: this is one of our favorite methods for cooking fish especially in the summertime. Be sure to oil the grates and preheat the coals for 30 minutes (10 minutes for a gas grill). Cook fish 4-6 minutes per side.
5. Poach Them: just about any type of fish can be cooked gently in a heated liquid. We recommend wine, beer or fish stock. Pour in just enough liquid to cover the fish, cover the pan and cook for 8-10 minutes.
