Sure, you could go with the traditional feats of the seven fishes for Christmas Eve dinner, but you’ve done that the last couple of years and you’re looking for something different, right? Well, the recipe ideas below are anything but ordinary when it comes to holiday cuisine and we’ll bet you and your guests will come back for seconds.
DIY Pizza Bar
This is quite easy and it’s great especially if you’ll be in a house full of kids. All you need to do is get a couple of pizza doughs from the local pizzeria or food store, separate a bunch of toppings into bowls and don’t forget the cheese!
You can make larger pies for everyone to enjoy, or stick to smaller personal pizzas — the choices are endless.
Smokehouse BBQ Platters
Chicken and ribs are more commonly associated with the summer months, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy them all year ‘round. Barbecue platters are great for feeding lots of people and let’s face it — who doesn’t like a fall-off-the-bone rib with a side of mac n cheese and cornbread?
Thanksgiving Pt. II
There aren’t many days of the year when we dig into fresh turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy so why not make Christmas Eve another excuse to indulge? Thanksgiving was a few weeks in the past by the time Christmas rolls around and we’ll bet lots of people will dive right in!
Soup & Salad
If Christmas Day is a big eating fest for you and your family, why not scale it back a bit on Christmas Eve to make sure you’ve got plenty of room? Start off with a perfectly dressed salad and then move onto a bowl of hot soup. You can even incorporate bread bowls if you’re feeling up to it!
