There’s a big difference between an elaborate wedding structure and throwing together a few poles and a few pieces of nylon for your camping adventure. Sure a tented wedding offers a lot to love — between the intimate fresh air and flexibility when it comes to choosing a location — but you should be spending just about as much time planning a tent wedding as anyone else would for a “traditional” venue. Here are five things you MUST consider while planning for your big day under the canopy:
1 - Start Budgeting Early
Lots of folks think throwing a wedding party under a tent will save them lots of money because they don’t need to rent out a venue. Well, keep in mind that elegant tents can be pricey by themselves, and you’ll also need to think about the decor, equipment rentals and any other costs associated with throwing an outdoor party.
2 - Pick A Design
Believe it or not, there are plenty of different tent options to choose from. Standard pole tents are equipped with poles through the center that support heavy duty vinyl or sailcloth. You can also choose from structure and frame tents and even clear top tents rather than feeling like you’re enclosed by a roof.
3 - Make Reservations Ahead Of Time
Just like a traditional venue, it’s best to book a tent as early as possible. Rental companies often have a limited supply of sizes and styles to choose from, so we suggest booking yours at least six months before the big day.
4 - Choose The Right Size
As a general rule of thumb, you’ll want about 18 square feet of space per person if you’re going to have a seated dinner and a dancefloor.
5 - Have A Back-Up Plan
