St. Patrick’s Day Recipes To Pair With Green Beer
Let’s face it — St. Patrick’s Day is not necessarily known as a holiday where guests sit down at a nicely set table to feast on food they’ve been dreaming about all year. Instead, it’s usually celebrated by a bunch of friends in different shades of green clothing with what seems like an endless supply of alcohol, and not much in the way of grub. Well, we can’t throw a party without having at least a few food options and this year for St. Patrick’s Day, we’re choosing to serve up some of these Irish appetizers in addition to green beer! Slainte!
1 – Reuben Pizza
You can buy pre-made flatbreads or roll out some pizza dough and cook it yourself, but it’s the toppings we’re really focusing on here. Slather on the thousand island dressing and top the dough with shredded pastrami, sauerkraut and swiss cheese. Bake in the oven until the cheese melts and then cut it up into small slices or strips and serve.
2 – Salt & Vinegar Kale Chips
No, it doesn’t involve potatoes and no, it doesn’t involve corned beef or cabbage, but it is green and it certainly does pair well with beer. This super simple recipe calls for a bag of fresh kale dumped into a large bowl and sprinkled with olive oil and sea salt. Spread it out over a large baking sheet and cook in the oven for 8-10 minutes on 350°F until crispy. Shake a few dabs of vinegar over the kale chips and transfer to a serving plate.
3 – Loaded Baked Sweet Potatoes
Toss a few sweet potatoes in the oven at 400°F and cook for roughly 45 minutes. In a frying pan, sear up some thick cut bacon and when the potatoes are finished, slice them and stuff them with chopped bacon, sour cream and shredded cheese. Sprinkle some fresh lime juice on top and garnish with scallions.
Remember to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day responsibly!
